Kristin Fairholm is no stranger to adolescent sexual health, having spent the last eight years at EyesOpenIowa, a state-based organization focused on preventing teen pregnancy and educating youth about sexual health. Kristin has served as the executive director for the past six years and in previous years as the Community Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program (CAPP) Program Manager. In these positions, she has led the organization to be an important player in the sexual health field in the United States. Leading the charge, Kristin helped develop one of the first texting programs for teens in the nation, which allows them to get answers about their sexual health as well as learn new skills via social media platforms. She led the development of the organization’s Sex Ed Academy and Sexual Health Educator Certification program (CSHE) as well as Iowa’s WISE Program that works directly with school districts to institutionalize sex education. She has more than twenty years’ experience in social work and non-profits and has come from a diverse background of social good nonprofits. Kristin is a certified trainer in many evidence-based sexual health interventions as well as FLASH and Rights, Respect, Responsibility (3R’s). She also specializes in organizational development and fundraising. Kristin is passionate about helping educators reach their full potential as educators in order to provide young people with the quality sexual health education that they deserve.
